Trista Davis
Trista Davis is a dynamic entrepreneur who founded the first inclusive and accessible yoga studio. As a guide, coach, and mentor, she delights in helping women discover their best selves. Trista's diverse background includes certifications in Somatic Coaching, Breathwork Facilitation, Grief Recovery, Reiki Master training, Trauma-Informed Yoga Instruction, and Kid Code Facilitation. She has also taken numerous courses from notable teachers like Allison Armstrong, Melanie Anne Layer, The Body Talk System, and Breakthrough. A lifelong learner, she is dedicated to her personal growth and sharing her knowledge with clients and students.
Her wellness center, Above Average Wellness, is celebrating its 10th year in business. However, Trista's entrepreneurial journey began much earlier, with her first brick-and-mortar business at the age of 16. She loves many aspects of business and has gained extensive experience over the years.
Trista is a busy woman who believes in aligning with true desires rather than hustling endlessly. She leads retreats, women's circles, yoga classes, and online workshops, all while managing the daily operations of her studio and metaphysical shop. In her spare time, she enjoys being with friends and family, spending time at the dog park with her dogs, and carefully petting her grumpy cat. She also loves to write and record meditations.

A little more from Trista
Hello! Thank you so much for being here. Community is incredibly important to me, so welcome to ours. Let me share a bit about my background and journey up to this point.
I grew up on an acreage in a small city in Alberta, surrounded by the wonders of nature from a very young age. My days were filled with digging up rocks, picking flowers, and building forts high up in trees. My exposure to personal development began early, attending my first seminar when I was just 13 years old. I’m grateful my parents instilled this value in me, fostering a desire to seek more than what is right in front of me. One of my core beliefs is that no human should be left behind, which inspired me to create Above Average Wellness. This venture has since blossomed into a beautiful community. I want everyone to know that they are worthy simply by being alive and can find belonging within themselves. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience personal development and learn the skills to navigate life’s challenges.
My favorite topics to present are compassion, forgiveness, grief, desire, and empowerment through personal power. I firmly believe that the relationship you build with yourself is the most important one, yet it is often neglected. I also love teaching about meditation, stress reduction, and not sweating the small stuff. I’ve presented to numerous groups and enjoy tailoring the perfect presentation for each audience.
My husband is my best friend, and we share a love and relationship beyond my wildest dreams. I never imagined I could have such a relationship with another person, and I am grateful every day that we found each other. Our relationship, built over 16 years, hasn’t been without its challenges, but it remains my proudest achievement. When I lost my Dad to cancer in 2021, the walls around my heart came down, and my husband and I became more open-hearted and vulnerable with each other, this changed everything. It was difficult, but the rewards have been unparalleled.
My Dad’s death changed me in unimaginable ways. Witnessing his struggle, pain, and determination was one of the most formative experiences of my life. His unconditional love, bravery, and vulnerability revealed aspects of the human condition I hadn’t known existed. I struggled with grief for some time, but it ultimately brought me lessons, awakenings, and gifts. I miss him every day but am grateful for the time we had together. We truly are all walking each other home.
My life experiences continue to be my greatest teachers, and I strive to live in a way that I’ll be excited to recount in hindsight. Much of my teaching and coaching involves personal stories, as I believe vulnerability is key to wholehearted living.
In my spare time, I love to travel, write, create meditations, and spend time with family, especially my nieces and nephews. I am blessed to have had all my family work with me at some point, and you’ll often see them at the studio or on retreat with me! I also have two small dogs, a beagle cross and a dachshund cross, and a grumpy old cat. They keep me busy and active with days at the dog park and walks around Riverlot 56. Life is very full but rewarding! Over the years, I have learned to prioritize what truly matters because we only get about 4,000 weeks on this planet if we are lucky. I want to spend every week present with what is in front of me, sinking deeply into all the experiences that I can!
If you feel it’s a fit to join one of my sessions online or at Above Average Wellness, I would LOVE to meet you! I also currently have room for a few one-on-one clients for somatic coaching or business mentorship who are ready to dive deeper into all that they are. Book with me below or reach out at [email protected]. You can also learn more about me and what I love to teach and write about over on the blog!
Hope to see you soon.
Love,
Trista
