Above Average Yoga

Trista Davis

Trista Davis is a passionate entrepreneur, space holder, and community builder whose work is rooted in the belief that healing should be accessible, inclusive, and deeply human. As the founder of Above Average Wellness, she has spent the past decade creating welcoming spaces where people of all backgrounds and abilities can reconnect with themselves and each other.
Trista’s work is fueled by a genuine love of growth, both personal and collective. With training in Somatic Coaching, Breathwork Facilitation, Grief Recovery, Reiki, Trauma-Informed Yoga, and Kid Code Facilitation, she brings an integrated, practical approach to everything she teaches. She has also studied with teachers and systems including Allison Armstrong, Melanie Ann Layer, The BodyTalk System, and Breakthrough, and continues to expand her toolbox in service of the people she supports.
Her entrepreneurial roots run deep. Trista opened her first storefront at just 16 years old. Today, she leads a thriving studio and metaphysical shop while mentoring emerging leaders and creatives who want to build in a way that honours alignment over hustle.
Trista is known for her down-to-earth wisdom, sharp intuition, and ability to meet people exactly where they are, whether she’s leading a retreat or training, facilitating a women’s circle, or guiding a quiet moment on the mat. She helps others find their way not by handing them answers, but by reminding them of what they already know deep down.
Outside the studio, Trista’s life is anchored by her marriage of over 14 years to her best friend and biggest cheerleader. In April 2025, they welcomed their daughter, a chapter that brought new perspective to everything, including the pace she keeps, the way she holds space, and the kind of care she believes people truly need. These days, her work is infused with even more gentleness, honesty, and respect for real life.
When she’s not teaching or creating, you’ll find her enjoying slow moments with her family. She believes magic lives in the ordinary, and that rest, joy, and truth are some of the most revolutionary forces we have.

A little more from Trista

Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here. Community means everything to me, so thank you for being part of ours. Let me share a little about my journey and the heart behind the work I do.
I grew up on an acreage just outside a small city in Alberta, where nature was my first teacher. I spent my childhood digging up rocks, building tree forts, and picking wildflowers, learning early how to notice beauty in the world around me. My introduction to personal development came young. I attended my first seminar at 13, thanks to parents who instilled in me the value of growth, compassion, and looking beyond what’s right in front of you.
One of my deepest beliefs is that no human should be left behind. That belief led me to create Above Average Wellness, a space where everyone is welcome, where your worth is never up for debate, and where healing and belonging begin within. I believe personal development should be accessible, and that with the right support and tools, people can move through life’s messier moments with more grace, resilience, and choice.
The themes I return to again and again are compassion, forgiveness, grief, desire, and the personal power that emerges when we stop abandoning ourselves. I often say the most important relationship you’ll ever have is the one you build with yourself, yet it’s the one we tend to neglect. I love teaching practices like meditation, stress reduction, somatic healing, and the art of letting go of what weighs us down. Whether I’m holding a small circle or teaching a larger group, I tailor each experience with care.
After working with me, most people don’t just feel “better.” They feel more resourced. Calmer when possible, clearer when it counts, and more able to return to themselves and choose how they want to respond.
I’ve been with my husband for over 16 years, and he’s truly my best friend. Our relationship hasn’t always been easy, but it has always been worth it. When my Dad passed away from cancer in 2021, something in me cracked open. His death reshaped me, brought me closer to my husband, and invited a deeper level of openness and vulnerability into our lives. It was one of the hardest seasons of my life, and also one of the most sacred. Losing my Dad changed how I love, how I grieve, and how I show up for others. His bravery, tenderness, and fierce love remain a guiding light in everything I do.
And now, I’m walking a brand new path: motherhood. In April 2025, my daughter was born, and with her, a new version of me. Becoming a mother has softened me and deepened my understanding of presence in ways I didn’t know were possible. She is a daily reminder of the sacredness of life, of cycles, and of connection. Motherhood has made my work feel even more real and rooted, and I’m honoured to walk this earth as her mom.
When I’m not teaching, you’ll often find me walking in Riverlot 56 with my two quirky little dogs (a beagle cross and a dachshund cross), petting my very grumpy old cat, or spending time with family, especially my nieces and nephews. I love to travel, write, create meditations, and dream up new ways to support people on their journey home to themselves.
Above all, I try to live in a way I’ll be proud to look back on. We only get around 4,000 weeks on this planet if we’re lucky, and I want to spend mine awake to the beauty and truth of being alive.
If one of my classes, trainings, workshops, or retreats feels like a fit, I’d love to welcome you in. I also currently have space for a few one-on-one clients for somatic coaching or business mentorship, for those who are ready to go deeper.

You can reach me at [email protected], or learn more about my work on the blog.

I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s keep walking each other home.

Love,
Trista
