Restriction Exemption Policy
As many of you may have heard, Alberta has declared a state of emergency and new rules and restrictions are being put in place.
Today we, and many other small businesses have been given a hard choice by the Alberta government. We can either not have yoga classes or events, or opt into the restriction exemption program. This program will require proof of vaccination for those attending yoga classes and events.
Above Average Wellness has made the decision implement the Restrictions Exemption Program For Yoga and Events
The retail store will remain open at 1/3 capacity.
We believe that the restriction exemption program is the best option for the community and our business. If we chose not to comply we would not be able to run any classes or events.
Effective Monday, Sept 20 the following new measures will be in effect for Yoga and Events:
Businesses that implement the Restrictions Exemption Program can operate as usual if they only serve people (ages 12 and over) who have one of the following:
A:) proof of vaccination
single dose accepted between September 20 and October 25 if received 2 weeks before the time of service
double doses required after October 25
B:) documentation of a medical exemption
C:) proof of a privately-paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of service (tests from AHS or Alberta Precision Laboratories not allowed)
Our business falls into a few categories so here is the quick answers to many questions we have been receiving.
Yoga and any other events taking place in the studio space or offsite fall under the new measures.
Please bring your proof of vaccination/exemption to your next class and we will record it so that you do not have to bring it every time.
Masks are mandated in the retail area but can be removed once you have reached your mat but this remains personal choice.
Some things you may not know about our facility that we are doing to keep the community safe are the following:
-We have installed a UV filter in our HVAC system to clean all the air in the facility continually
-We have a fogger that uses a salt based solution to clean all aspects of the space regularly.
-We provide many hand sanitizing stations are are still disinfecting high touch areas regularly.
-For more vigorous classes we are reducing capacity limits creating more distance between mats for a more comfortable environment.
