- Parking: Please park anywhere you like in the front, side, or back of the building if you will be here for 2 hours or less. If you are attending a class, workshop, or session longer than 2 hours, please park in the back. It is a short walk along the sidewalk on the side of the building to the front door.
- Arrive early and be on time: Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before class so you have time to get settled. We lock the doors between most classes. If you arrive after the start time, even by 1 minute, you may be locked out. Please do not knock or bang on windows or doors if you are late, it is disruptive to classes in session.
- Be prepared: Drink water beforehand and bring a reusable water bottle (we have free water in a cooler). Please come with an empty-ish tummy when possible. A heavy meal right before class usually does not feel great.
- Props: We have all the props you could wish for. If you prefer your own mat or props, you are welcome to bring them.
- Lockers and clutter: We have free lockers for day use. Please place your belongings in a locker and keep the studio space tidy. Take all belongings with you after class, we are not able to store items overnight.
- Phones: Please put your phone on silent and place it in a locker. If you are on call for work or emergencies, that is totally fine. Otherwise, we invite you to unplug while you are here.
- Voices and studio silence: Please keep voices low and observe quiet in the studio. Questions are always encouraged, but we ask that you keep chatter to a minimum so everyone can drop in and settle.
- Clothing: Wear comfortable clothing you can move and breathe in. Sweats, yoga pants, shorts, socks, no socks, no judgment. Just comfort.
- Footwear: We practice in bare feet for most classes. For Zumba, please bring clean indoor runners. Indoor shoes may also be worn for Chair Yoga, but they are not required.
- Be kind and respectful: Above Average Wellness is a safe space for all humans. To keep it that way, we ask that you do not comment on anyone else’s body, ability, gender, or who they love. Please also help us keep clutter and noise to a minimum so everyone feels at ease.
- Be present and patient: Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can. This is not a performance. Give yourself permission to learn, to rest, and to take your time.
- Be flexible and listen to your body: Do your best to follow along with your instructor, and please ask for clarification if a cue is not clear or if something does not feel good in your body. You are always welcome to take a variation, pause, or rest.
- Scent note: Please skip strong perfumes or heavily scented products when possible, as some members are scent-sensitive.
