The Significance of Sun Salutation
Have you ever wondered what is the significance of a Sun Salutation? Do you follow along blindly, without really knowing what you are doing? And how do you know if you are doing it right?
Join Misty for this 90 minute workshop where we break down four versions (variation a, b, classical and chair) of Sun Salutation. You will learn the mechanics of moving from pose to pose and what each pose should look and feel like. We will make the individual poses accessible for all body types and help you discover how these flows feel good for you.
You will need a sturdy chair, two yoga blocks and a blanket.
You will receive handouts of each version so that you can practice on your own,
Sunday, June 21st at 1:00 p.m. via zoom. Zoom link will be emailed two hours before class and you will receive a recording after class
Grow Where You Are Planted. Daylong Outdoor Meditation Retreat
Saturday June 20 10am-5pm.
Join Above Average Yoga’s Trista Davis and Kat Boehm for a beautiful day of collective solitude, mindfulness and mediation at Site 3 of Coronation Park on June 20 from 10am-5pm Use this as an opportunity to unplug and restore the mind and the body. No meditation experience required.
We will be engaging in this retreat outdoors to exceed the requirements put out by the Government of Alberta. Participants will be placed a minimum of 6 feet apart unless they are from the same household. We will no longer be providing lunch but will send you a suggested menu for the day. We will provide bottles of water and hand sanitizer but we will be asking you to bring your own props and mats and anything else you may need for the day.
Because we are not providing lunch or props we have lowered the price from last year and are asking that you please BRING A FRIEND for FREE. Please email us and give us the name of the friend and their email address after you have registered. If there weather is horrible we will be hosting the retreat online instead. But we have faith in mother nature especially since it is Summer Solstice Weekend!
This silent retreat is themed "Grow Where you are Planted" focusing on lessons of the Summer Solstice we will help you to grow your love for yourself, for others, create more compassion. We will help set you up for success for the next few months of the year and tap into the energies of the summer to enhance your personal growth and deepen your meditation practice should you so choose. Our last retreat received rave reviews and many of the participants are excited to do it again.
So what does a silent retreat look like? Well the good news is that you are not just paying for 7 hours of straight silence! How it works is you will arrive around 9:30am for registration and find a comfortable place that you would like to situate yourself for the first seated meditation of the day. At 10am we will all be seated and ready for practice. We will go over all the ground "rules" and then a teaching will be offered. After the teaching is offered you will meditate for a period of time until another teaching is offered and so on and so forth. We will be working with walking meditation, so you will get to go outside and be with nature, gentle beginner yoga, food meditation, journal exercises, restorative yoga, breathing exercises, contemplation and we will even finish the day with some mantra work. You will be able to talk to the retreat staff during the day if needed but it is not a time for socialization.
The investment of the retreat includes some take home worksheets and instructions to continue your meditation practices. Other surprises are also included. Limited Space Available. No refunds, but registration transfer is welcome. We truly believe that rain or shine we will be able to provide a unique and beautiful retreat experience.
Need to talk to someone first? Contact Trista at 780-999-5808 or email at email@example.com
No refunds available. This retreat will be limited in number of participants.

Donate to our Dear Friends in Mexico
Mexico has been hit hard during the pandemic and they have no government support. We wish we could help everyone, but we can help a few. We have met several people over the years that have impacted our lives in a positive way and we would like to give back to them by providing some funds to help them get their basic needs of food, water and shelter met during this time of ZERO tourism in Mexico. Please help us by donating any amount that you are able or attend our awesome event to MOVEMENT for MEXICO and show your support.
